According to the Northern Echo, Aston Villa are interested in signing Middlesbrough attacker Marcus Tavernier in this summer’s transfer window.
Tavernier has been with Boro since 2013, progressing through the youth system at the Riverside Stadium before making his first-team debut in 2017.
The 20-year-old ended the 2018-19 campaign with five goals and three assists in 30 appearances for Boro in all competitions.
According to the Northern Echo, Villa – now back in the Premier League – are considering a swoop for the attacker.
However, a number of the club’s fans are not interested in a deal for Tavernier ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
Indeed, many have claimed that sorting out the future of Anwar El Ghazi is more important than moving for Tavernier, but that is not an opinion shared by everyone with some calling for their club to land the youngster.
Meanwhile, a number of the supporters are keen for Marcus’ brother, James Tavernier, to arrive from Rangers this summer.
